hristopher Wheeler was born in 1957, raised in Montgomery County, Maryland, and resides in Bethesda, Maryland with his wife of twenty-five years and their family.  Mr. Wheeler is a graduate of the Landon School (1975), Northwestern University (B.A., 1979), and American University Law School (J.D., 1982). 

While in law school and upon graduation, Mr. Wheeler worked for the large District of Columbia law firm formerly known as Sellers, Conner & Cuneo.  From 1987 to 1993, Mr. Wheeler was with the suburban Maryland law firm of Nylen & Gilmore, first as an associate, and thereafter making principal (partner) in 1990.  With Nylen & Gilmore,  Mr. Wheeler practiced civil litigation in cases before the Maryland and District of Columbia state and federal trial and appellate courts, with numerous trials and appearances in cases before the Montgomery and Prince George's County Circuit Courts, primarily involving contested trusts and estates, contracts, real property, and commercial law.  

In 1993, Mr. Wheeler co-founded the law firm of Luman, Lange and Wheeler, in Washington, DC.  As principal litigation partner thereof, Mr. Wheeler tried and appeared in bench and jury cases throughout Maryland and the District of Columbia, involving contract, realty, corporate, partnership, and other protracted disputes.  These cases included extensive equity practice in complex trusts and estate matters; as one example, Mr. Wheeler was lead trial and appellate counsel in the seminal trust/fiduciary case of Jacob v. Davis, et al., 128 Md. App. 433, 738 A.2d 904 (1999), cert. denied sub nom Davis v. Jacob, 357 Md. 482,
745 A.2d 436 (2000). 

Effective August, 2003, Mr. Wheeler joined the law firm of Hughes & Bentzen, PLLC in its litigation practice.  In addition to litigation representation, Mr. Wheeler has also counseled a variety of businesses and trade associations, and services provided include corporate and partnership planning, contract negotiations, and representation in government contract, restrictive competition, securities, bankruptcy adversary, and collection actions.  Mr. Wheeler is a member in good standing of the Bars of the District of Columbia and Maryland, the United States District and Bankruptcy Courts for the District of Columbia and Maryland, the United States Courts of Appeals for the District of Columbia and Fourth Circuits, and the United States Claims Court.
